From 5 to 8 October 2026, the Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV) will host the first Onsite Training Days (OTD1) of the SwitchFloc project, entitled “Sustainable Aquaculture Systems: Biofloc Technology”.
The four-day event will bring together SwitchFloc Doctoral Candidates, supervisors, project partners and invited experts in Valencia for an intensive programme combining scientific training, transversal skills, knowledge exchange and networking.
A key part of the programme will focus on Biofloc Technology (BFT), one of the core research areas of SwitchFloc. The OTD1 will feature scientific seminars delivered by internationally recognised experts in the field, including Dr. Wilson Wasielesky and Dr. Luis Poersch, providing participants with the opportunity to deepen their knowledge of BFT and discuss its role in the development of more sustainable aquaculture systems.
Alongside the scientific sessions, the programme will include transversal training activities, project meetings and collaborative sessions designed to strengthen interaction between Doctoral Candidates, supervisors and partners across the SwitchFloc network.
The OTD1 will represent an important milestone for the project, providing the first major training and networking event where the SwitchFloc community will come together in Valencia. It will also contribute to one of the main objectives of the MSCA Doctoral Network: providing a new generation of researchers with high-quality scientific and transversal training in an international and intersectoral environment.
