Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA)
The SwitchFloc Grant Agreement is a project funded under the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) programme, aimed at training the next generation of professionals in innovative and sustainable aquaculture systems based on Biofloc Technology (BFT). The project provides a highly international, interdisciplinary, and intersectoral research environment, fostering close collaboration between academic institutions and industry partners.
We are currently inviting applications for a PhD position entitled:
“Economic Feasibility and Market Opportunities for Industrial BFT Implementation”
The main objective of this PhD position is to evaluate the economic and social feasibility of Biofloc Technology (BFT) within a European context, while exploring potential market opportunities for its industrial-scale implementation.
The PhD candidate will analyse cost structures, value chains, and market dynamics related to BFT systems, contributing to the assessment of business models, economic viability, and societal impacts. This research will support decision-making processes for the industrial adoption of BFT, helping to identify opportunities and barriers within the European aquaculture sector.
The selected candidate will be encouraged to contribute to scientific publications, industry-oriented reports, and the dissemination of project outcomes through conferences, workshops, and stakeholder engagement activities.
