The SwitchFloc project officially started with the celebration of its Kick-off Meeting, held on 16 December 2026, during which all consortium partners came together to mark the beginning of this collaborative research initiative.
During the meeting, participants had the opportunity to get to know the beneficiary institutions, review the project objectives and the different work packages, and discuss the overall implementation plan. This first meeting allowed partners to align expectations, define the roles and responsibilities within the Joint Governing Structure, and lay the foundations for effective coordination throughout the project’s duration.
Special attention was also given to project management, communication strategies, training activities for PhD candidates, and mobility plans, which are key elements of the SwitchFloc programme. In this context, the recruitment process was particularly highlighted, with an in-depth discussion of the recruitment guidelines for future vacancies. The meeting fostered an open and constructive dialogue, strengthening collaboration between the participating universities, research centres, and companies.
The Kick-off Meeting represents a key milestone for SwitchFloc, as it establishes a solid foundation for advancing research in sustainable aquaculture through a multidisciplinary approach. The consortium enters this new phase with enthusiasm and commitment to achieving the project’s ambitious scientific and training objectives.
